Who we are
B1 is a small creative studio in Sofia. We make animation, design and visual effects for companies that need the work to do a job, not just look good in a showreel.
Most of what we take on starts messy: a product nobody can explain in one sentence, a brand that has drifted, footage that will not cut together. We are usually more useful at that stage than at the polishing stage, so that is where we like to be brought in.
We are deliberately small. You talk to the people making the work, and nothing gets passed down a chain until the intent is gone.
How we work
We argue about the brief first
Most bad work is a brief problem wearing a craft costume. We would rather spend a week disagreeing about what the thing is for than three weeks making the wrong thing beautifully.
Systems over one-offs
Whatever we build, we try to leave you with the rules behind it: a rig, a grid, a template set. If the second one costs the same as the first, we have not finished the job.
Revisions early, not late
Scripts, boards and blocking get signed off before anything is rendered. Changes at that stage cost hours. The same change after final render costs days, and everyone is unhappy about it.
We will tell you not to
Sometimes the answer is a better landing page, not a film. Saying so costs us a project and keeps the relationship, which has worked out well enough so far.
