The brief

Five topics, five audiences, one brand. Previous videos had been made by different suppliers and looked it. The client wanted a series that held together and a set of rules so the next one would too.

The approach

We treated the series as a system rather than five films. Shared grid, shared easing curves, shared transition vocabulary, then room inside those constraints for each episode to have its own idea.

One grid, five stories

A 12-column motion grid and a fixed set of four transitions kept episodes recognisable as siblings.

Define the easing

Three named curves for everything that moves. Documented, not improvised per shot.

Hand over the rules

A short motion guideline document plus source files, so the internal team could produce episode six without us.

Selected frames

The result

The series shipped as a set. The guidelines have since been used for two further pieces produced in-house.

5Episodes in one system
4Transitions, reused throughout
2Follow-ups made in-house
We finally have a house style for motion instead of a folder of one-offs.
